Wout Weghorst admits regrets over last season's loan with Manchester United.

Now with Hoffenheim, Weghorst feels he could've signed long-term for Unitd if he'd scored more.

He told Waanhouden Wout, When I entered the stadium (Old Trafford) I will never forget that moment. Then I realised: my dream has been achieved.

(But) the goals... Which have actually always done a lot in my career, I just couldn't do that there. So if you can talk about a blemish That's a shame."

Sure if you talk about the perfect picture, you would have wanted all that," Weghorst said about scoring goals. The value I had for the team, in the way I played and played football, was significant. But in the end I did need goals."

Ultimately, United decided to let Weghorst return to parent club Burnley.

They had clearly indicated that they really wanted to buy a real striker. I guess it was no secret that that was Kane. Eventually another striker came (Hjlund), and they still had Martial. There was an option for me to stay, but that depended on several factors."
