Drew Brees won the 2011 NFC South Positive Impact Factor (what's this?). This was one of the toughest divisions in the NFL to win in terms of how well quarterbacks performed using the PIF.

Drew Brees led the Saints to a 13-3 record and recovered from a PIF of 25.6 last season. He did this by reducing his rate of interceptions and fumbles lost while cranking up his touchdown production to 6.9%.

Cam Newton had an amazing rookie year for the Panthers with 35 touchdowns and 19 turnovers. What the Heisman Trophy winner did well in college he continued to do in Carolina. The level of competition knocked his sky high 70+ PIF from Auburn down but he still performed among the best in NFL this season.

Matt Ryan fell from a 44 PIF (6th in NFL) in 2010 to a 36.5 this season. His 2011 season resembled his 2009 season. Ryan's touchdown production was up a little from last season but so was his lost fumbles and interception rate.

Josh Freeman, like Ryan, had a disappointing season. In 2010, Freeman's PIF of 49 was 4th in the NFL. He had made a huge stride from his PIF of 11.6 in the 2009 season. His touchdowns came down and his turnovers skyrocketed from 9 in 2010 to 27 in 2011.

Aaron Rodgers won the 2011 NFC North Positive Impact Factor (what's this?) standings by a landslide. That's not really surprising given the number he put up was outstanding.

Rodgers has improved his PIF each season in the NFL as a starter. His lowest rank in the NFL as a starter has been 9th in his first year as a starter (2008). He had a PIF of 41 that season.

Stafford has come a long way since his PIF of 19.7 in 2009. His touchdown production rate is up while his interception rate has come down a lot. As long as he stays healthy and plays like he did this season, the Lions could consistently compete for a playoff spot.

Ponder, the rookie out of Florida State, didn't have a terrible year as a rookie. His touchdown production rate wasn't bad at all actually but his rate of turnovers will need to come down if he is going to make it as a starter.

Cutler slipped a little from his PIF of 13.9 in 2010 and fell way down from his PIF of 44.6 in 2008 (5th in the NFL). His touchdown production has remained about the same throughout his career. What has changed the past two seasons is his lost fumbles. The last two seasons, he has fumbled 17 times and lost 9 of them. He's always had a problem handling the ball, but only lost 9 fumbles from 2006-2009.

Tony Romo won the Positive Impact Factor (what's this?) for the NFC East this season. However, it's Eli Manning, who finished third during the regular season, who is in the playoffs.

For Romo to win the regular season PIF is a little surprising. During his career, he has usually posted a decent number during the regular season but nothing like this year. In fact, his 2011 PIF was the best of his career. What changed this past season? He produced touchdowns at a higher rate and didn't lose fumbles at his average rate.

Michael Vick was second in the NFL behind Tom Brady last season with a 52.7 PIF, the best of his career. This past season was a return to normalcy for Vick. His touchdown rate went down while his interception rate went back up as did his rate of lost fumbles.

Eli Manning had a bit of a bounce back year from the 10.1 PIF he put up last season (28th in the NFL). His career low came in 2009 with a dead-last -48.2 PIF. His best season came in 2008, a 29.4. While his fumbles lost rate is still troublesome, his touchdown rate came up and interception rate went down.

Grossman has never finished with a PIF number in the positive side in his NFL career as a starter. This past season was his worst season. His best season was a -4.4 in 2006. Grossman can produce touchdowns at a decent rate but his turnovers come way too often be it interceptions or fumbles lost.

Tim Tebow won the AFC West 2011 Positive Impact Factor (what's this?) standings with plays like the one above. As you might have seen yesterday, he was on fire against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs. You'll have to wait to see how Tebow ranks in the playoff PIF. Let's just say he's off to a good start.

Tebow did not have enough touches to qualify in 2010 but showed that he could play with quality with a PIF of 55.8 (Tom Brady had the highest PIF last season with a 58.4).

Matt Cassel had a setback from his 2010 season career-best PIF (47.2) which was 7th in the NFL. He was also slightly below the 25.3 he put up in 2009. His turnover frequency stayed relatively low this season but his touchdowns also plummeted.

Palmer was down from a 2010 PIF of 26. He's been trending down since his career-best season in 2005 (45.1 PIF, 4th in NFL). His touchdown production is still good but his interception rate is too high to make it back into the 30s or 40s.

Philip Rivers was down from a 23.4 in 2010 but not as low as his 2.6 in 2007. He's not been able to come close to his career-best 44.2 PIF in 2006 (5th in NFL) since achieving that mark.

But if you aren't tired of PIF data just yet, here's the one I put up on LSU and Alabama's defensive PIF.

Matt Schaub only played 10 games this season but had enough touches to qualify for the Positive Impact Factor (what's this?) standings and he led the AFC South this season. Instead of his usual nemesis Peyton Manning, Schaub was in a battle with Matt Hasselbeck for the top spot.

Schaub recovered from a down year in 2010 (23.3 PIF) with a 38.4 this season (his second best season). He was able to improve by increasing his touchdown production rate while slashing his fumbles lost. He did not quite get back to his 2009 season, a 46.1 PIF, which was second the NFL behind Peyton Manning.

Hasselbeck rebounded from his worst regular season (-5.2 in 2010) to his third best career mark this season with a 38 PIF. Last season he turned the ball over 22 times while scoring only 15 touchdowns. In 2011, he had 18 touchdowns to 15 turnovers but only lost 1 fumble.

Gabbert did not have a great year for a rookie. He produced 12 touchdowns at one of the lowest rates in the AFC at 2.6% of his touches. He also turned the ball over 16 times. His interception rate was actually pretty good which should give Jacksonville fans some hope that he continue to develop and can improve his ball security (14 fumbles this year).

Curtis Painter was thrown into a bad spot this year for the Colts and had a 0 PIF. He produced only six touchdowns at a rate of 2.3% of his touches (last in the AFC). His rating was severely harmed by his lost fumbles. He had 12 total turnovers on the season.

While the Cleveland Browns finished fourth in the AFC North this season, their quarterback Colt McCoy finished first among the division's quarterbacks in the Positive Impact Factor (what's this?).

It was not a banner year for the quarterbacks in the AFC North you would expect to have done well. Colt McCoy and Andy Dalton were in first and second in the PIF standings because they held onto the ball better than Joe Flacco and Ben Roethlisberger.

There were fewer touchdowns and fewer wins for McCoy and Dalton but also fewer turnovers. If Roethlisberger got credit for being sacked in rushing attempts, his PIF would move ahead of Flacco, but not catch Dalton.

McCoy improved his PIF from a 37.7 in 2010 (10th in the NFL) to a 39.1 by throwing interceptions at a lower rate. Dalton, of course was a rookie, but did pretty well and helped the Bengals make the playoffs. Flacco fell from a 31.7 to 15.7 (his worst season in the NFL) because his rate of interceptions went up a little and his fumbles lost rate skyrocketed. Roethlisberger's season was bad but not his worst. In his career, he has bounced around from Top 10 in his best seasons (2004, 38.4 PIF; 2005, 40.4 PIF, 2009, 34.5 PIF) to bottom 5 in his worst year (2008, -2.6 PIF). He dropped from his average season due to a higher rate of interceptions and fumbles lost.

Brady had a 47.8 PIF during the regular season. He led the NFL with a 58.4 PIF during the regular season in 2010. What was different this year? His touchdown rate went down from 7.1% to 6.4%. He also had 14 turnovers this season compared to just 5 last year.

Fitzpatrick enjoyed his best PIF season in 2011 despite throwing a career-high 23 interceptions. He also reached a career-high in touchdowns and completion percentage. What he avoided this past season was fumbles.

Matt Moore was finally a qualified passer (minimum 224 touches) for the PIF. His total touchdowns (18) was ahead of his total turnovers (15). However, he lost fumbles at a high rate which cut into his overall rating.

Sanchez regressed from his best year in 2010, 36.5, to his worst year at a -2 PIF. His rookie year he had a PIF of 9. Although he was responsible for a career-high 32 touchdowns in 2011, he also turned the ball over a career-high 26 times.

While the college football bowl season is on hold today because of the scheduling arrangement with the NFL, it appears junior Robert Griffin III will depart Baylor for the NFL.

If the report is true, than the amazing run you see in the video above from Baylor's 67-56 win over Washington in the 2011 Alamo Bowl, is some of the last footage available of Griffin playing college football.

Griffin won the 2011 Heisman Trophy for an outstanding year. He led Baylor to a 10-3 season. Griffin threw for 4,293 yards and 37 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions in 2011. He also rushed for 699 yards and 10 touchdowns and caught one pass for 15 yards. In four seasons at Baylor, Griffin threw for 10,366 yards and 78 touchdowns and rushed for another 33 touchdowns.

His Positive Impact Factor (what's this?) for the 2011 season was a 66.1. His career PIF was a 62.8. Griffin's 2011 PIF number ranks better than any Heisman winning quarterback since 2000 except for Florida's Tim Tebow (2007, 75.9 PIF), Oklahoma's Sam Bradford (2008, 67.8 PIF) and Auburn's Cam Newton (2010, 70.4 PIF).

The No. 1 LSU Tigers are back in the SEC Championship Game. Their opponent is a familiar one in the Georgia Bulldogs. LSU is 1-1 against Georgia and 3-1 overall in the SEC title game. LSU won in 2003 en route to a BCS National Championship. Georgia won the game in 2005. Les Miles is 1-2 all-time against the Bulldogs. LSU leads the overall series 15-12-1. If LSU wins on Dec. 3, it will be their 11th SEC Conference title. Georgia has 12 SEC titles, their last was in 2005. The Bulldogs are 2-1 in the SEC Championship game and 1-3 vs. the No. 1 team in the country.
