The LA Kings are keeping one of their own, signing forward Blake Lizotte to a two-year contract extension one hour before Monday’s trade deadline.

He’ll roughly double his salary, going from $800K this season to an average of $1.675 million AAV.

Lizotte, 24, was brought back on a one-year deal last year, and he’s arguably been the hardest working player on the team this season. The undrafted free agent out of St. Cloud State has firmly established his place on the Kings’ fourth line, finding success with Brendan Lemieux and Arthur Kaliyev.

Through 58 games, Lizotte has eight goals and nine assists for 17 points. He’s been one of the Kings’ best forecheckers, playing fearlessly to create turnovers.

Congrats to Blake. This is a well-deserved contract extension.
