After derailing the New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys are riding hot on the amount of offensive weapons they have. Dak Prescott is just one piece of that bolstered offense. It’s like a dozen hot wings on a platter and the Cowboys are just absolutely feasting. One thing is for sure, Dallas fans are always eating too, while enjoying seeing their team blowing opponents out of the water.

Driving the ball down the field was not a sincere problem for America’s team. Anytime the Cowboys can get a target going, they can rely on Jake Ferguson who is looming as a favorite. It’s no secret that he’s the emergency target for Prescott, but he’s been available in critical plays. Ferguson recently recorded his third consecutive game with a score this season.

His consistency and ability to make plays have made him a true reliable weapon for this fire offense. Now there are questions left unanswered. Could he truly be the next tight end that could end up in the Hall of Fame? Settle down now Dallas fans, he could be just like former Hall of Famer, Jason Witten.

Now it is true that the Cowboys will see another Jason Witten on their team again. Especially remembering the performance he had against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007. However, Ferguson is creating his own legacy for the long haul.

Dallas Cowboys Offensive Threat Is the Next Jason Witten

Comparison Between Jason Witten and Jake Ferguson

Of course, the successor is paying homage to the long-time cowboy. Settle down keyboard warriors, every Cowboy knows that Ferguson can’t exactly match up the stats and powerhouse plays that Witten made. But what if Ferguson can create his own shine and continue to be a Cowboy for life? That’s exactly what he’s doing with his consistency.

The size, agility, and ability to cut through the defenders after catching the ball are everything that Witten has done. However, Ferguson has his own special ingredients for the Cowboys offense that is truly remarkable. Last season, a key play was shown during his rookie season that shows his specialty. While Witten has ridden off into the sunset, Ferguson is filling in shoes big time.

Ferguson’s yardage output against the Eagles despite the 28-23 loss was the best since Witten last touched the turf in 2019. Even if the Cowboys struggle in the red zone, they can rely on their horseman for that. The Wisconsin alum has lived up to his potential and now the future is more than brighter. Cowboys fans might’ve panicked when Dalton Schultz left, but they shouldn’t have that fear anymore.

Jake Ferguson is a Name That the League Will Remember

There are always talks about CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott, or Micah Parsons in recent NFL media. However, where is the recognition and talk about the powerhouse horseman? Ferguson makes plays even if it’s for short yardage. The way he scrambles and the passion that he shows on the field is unspeakable.

With these two next games against the Panthers and Commanders, this is the perfect opportunity for Ferguson to get more in the mix. Both of these teams are lacking and maybe Prescott can have a little bit of fun with Ferguson in the end zone. Every Cowboy fan remembers the unique celebrations he had when he scored last season. Just that energy and the way he fights like it’s his last opportunity is something to watch.

Especially considering that Luke Schoonmaker is unfortunately having a rough rookie season, the spotlight is on Ferguson. Get the man open and he can stomp all over the league’s defenses. If all of the Cowboys’ receivers were to fall flat then fans wouldn’t shed tears. Ferguson is your guy who can make any play happen in play-action or in the cross route.
