Ravens select 'smaller-sized' CB in latest mock draft

The Ravens have one of the better secondaries in the NFL, but Pro Football Focus has them adding another piece to the unit in its latest mock draft.

PFF has Baltimore selecting Utah CB Clark Phillips III at pick No. 22 in the 2023 NFL Draft. Phillips III has "a ton of confidence as a smaller-sized outside cornerback," PFF's Trevor Sikkema writes.

The 21-year-old is 5-foot-10, 183 pounds which may be why he is ranked as the No. 92 overall prospect on PFF's big board. However, after having six interceptions, a sack and two touchdowns in 2022, his draft stock is continuing to rise.

Pick No. 22 may be a little early to take Phillips III, but the Ravens don't have a second-round pick after trading theirs to the Bears for LB Roquan Smith midseason and they aren't scheduled to pick again until No. 86.

If Phillips III is Baltimore's guy, it may not be worth taking the risk of him falling to the third round. And addressing the position will be all the more important if CB Marcus Peters does leave in free agency.

Peters is an impending free agent and is projected to receive a two-year, $19.77 million contract, per Spotrac. The 30-year-old will leave big shoes to fill after totaling eight interceptions, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and two touchdowns as a Raven.

But if Phillips III plays anything like he has at Utah, he will create quite the duo in Baltimore with CB Marlon Humphrey.
