Ravens Draft Rumors: Replace WR Rashod Bateman?
Jeremy Reper-USA TODAY Sports

As the Baltimore Ravens head into the offseason, it’s time that the team gets honest about its current roster and where improvements need to be made.

One position that needs an upgrade is wide receiver, where Rashod Bateman has disappointed.

When Bateman entered the league, there was a lot of hype surrounding him as a rookie and what he could become for MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Standing over six feet tall and coming out of Minnesota, where he was a dominant receiver, many expected that Bateman was going to become Jackson’s top receiver, but after three seasons, he’s failed to live up to the high hopes the organization had for him when he was drafted in the first round back in 2021.

During his three years with the franchise, Bateman only has 1,167 receiving yards, 93 receptions, and three touchdowns. In the modern NFL, those numbers are the equivalent of a solid rookie season, not the type of production that gets you re-signed after your rookie contract.

This season will likely be Bateman’s final in Baltimore, so don’t be surprised if the team gives up hope of him breaking out and selects his replacement in this year's NFL Draft.

If the team wants to go from Super Bowl hopeful to Super Bowl champions, it needs a reliable wide receiver core. Rookie receiver Zay Flowers showed promise in 2023, finishing the regular season with 856 yards, 56 receptions, and five touchdowns. However, he needs more help from his position group in the future.

Keep an eye on receivers such as Keon Coleman at the NFL Combine because any player could be the Ravens's next wide starting receiver.
