Don’t Bet On Cam Newton
Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

2022 Marches on and one formerly big name still doesn’t have a home. Here’s why it should stay that way. The former NFL MVP has simply never looked like himself since 2017. His short lived runs with the Patriots and Panthers is also a clear sign that betting on him to return to it is a bust.

Why Cam Newton remains a free agent and why he should

Its pretty simple all you have to do is look at any game tape from the last two years. The accuracy isn’t there, the legs seem tired. All together Cam is just not the Cam that was, and he won’t be ever again. Cam posted abysmal numbers with his first and only season as a Patriot. Then, lost the job to a rookie, granted that rookie was Mac Jones. Still, for a former head of the table that is a big stinger. The one and done run with the Panthers on the heels of this just adds more fuel to the fire.

Add to all of this that time waits for no one and well, the outcomes don’t look any better. Cam is now 33 a far cry from the age where he was in form. Additionally the two major injuries that hes sustained, shoulder and foot, seem to have taken something from him. For any front office that does need a Quarterback in the absolute worst way Cam might be a serviceable stop gap but that’s as far as it goes. Problem is, he also costs way more than a stop gap should.

For those same teams, is it too soon to talk about Colin Kaepernick?
