NBA Draft Scouting Report: Iowa State's Milan Momcilovic
USA TODAY Sports

Milan Momcilovic

Forward | Iowa State

Height: 6'8” | Weight: 220 lbs

2024 Draft Age:

Prospect Profile

One of the more underrated freshman prospects entering the college season, Momcilovic plays with more skill than athleticism but can be highly productive.

On the offensive side of the ball, the upside is tremendous. He can play in the post, perimeter or anywhere in-between. He’s polished and versatile on that end for his age and should have the opportunity to shine in Big 12 play as the season goes on.

In the post, Momcilovic has great moves for a forward, whether it’s facing up or with his back to the basket. He has strong hands and combats the lack of athleticism with ball fakes and crafty footwork. He isn’t the most consistent 3-point shooter, but certainly has upside there to space the floor at the next level. He can also can operate in the midrange when given the opportunity.

Momcilovic is also extremely smart with the ball in his hands and a good positional passer. While he needs to improve as a rebounder, he has the potential upside to be a double-double machine.

Defense will be the big question at the college level for Momcilovic given he isn’t an elite athlete, so he will need to make up for it other ways. He will be tasked with defending high quality players in the Big 12, so he will need to improve quickly if he's going to be a one-and-done player.

The former four-star recruit competed in the 2023 USA Basketball U19 Training Camp with Omaha Biliew, his now teammate at Iowa State. The Cyclones have a talented roster that will be one of the most under the radar teams to keep an eye on as it relates to the 2024 NBA Draft. It might take a good part of the season for Momcilovic to hit his stride, but he has the tools that all NBA teams look for.
