Why the Detroit Lions are a perfect fit for Missouri's Kris Abrams-Draine in the 2024 NFL Draft
Jordan Prather-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NFL draft is next week. So in this final week ahead of time, I want to go over some of my top players for the Lions in this draft and make the case as to why they're the perfect fit for the Lions. We'll be covering Missouri cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine in this one. Here's who we've covered so far:

Kool-Aid McKinstry
Terrion Arnold
Xavier Legette
Troy Franklin
Dylan McMahon

The Draw

Tackling, tackling and tackling. Lions' GM Brad Holmes talked about cornerbacks at the NFL Combine said that the team was really interested in a corner that could tackle. Abrams-Draine was one of the best tacklers in the country last year.

Pro Football Focus gave Abrams-Draine and missed tackle percentage of 7.5%. That means he only missed 7.5% of the tackles that he attempted. That is very good.

It's not just about the tackles though, Abrams-Draine is good at stopping the passes as well. He allowed a passer rating of just 54.7 last year. He also led Missouri with four interceptions and 10 pass breakups. The latter was tied for fifth in the country.

The Drawback

Really the only drawback with Abrams-Draine is that he's small in the weight department. He's currently 178 pounds. That's really the big thing that's going to affect his draft stock. If he were a little bigger, he'd probably be one of the top corners off the board this year.

Where can the Lions get him?

Right now Abrams-Draine is slated to go in the third-round. We've seen some mocks that have him in the second-round,. We've also seen some that have him in the fourth-round. Day two is the best bet here. Most likely in the third.
