Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: WR Malik Washington, UVA
USA TODAY Sports

Former Pro-Bowl wide receiver Hunter Renfrow could have very well played his final game as a Las Vegas Raider after turning in two consecutive subpar campaigns.

While it seems likely that Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker would be called upon to replace Renfrow as the No. 3 option in the receiving room, there is no guarantee he can flourish in that role in just his second season.

What the Raiders may need is another young slot receiver who could battle Tucker for that No. 3 spot, a situation that would only help each receiver grow and be ready for that starting role.

One of the best slot receivers in all of college football this past season was Virginia's Malik Washington. In just his first and only season as a Cavalier, Washington finished the 2023 season fourth in the country in total receiving yards (1,426) in just 12 games. He did so on 110 receptions, the most in FBS.

Washington was named to the All-ACC First Team and the Associated Press All-America Second Team for his 2023 campaign. He was also named a first-team All-American by the College Football Network.

The prospect was also a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the nation's best receiver.

According to Pro Football Focus, Washington ranked second in the nation in slot catches (93), first in slot yards (1,127), and first in missed tackles forced (35).

Washington transferred to Virginia after playing four seasons at Northwestern. In 2022, his final year with the Wildcats, Washington recorded 694 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. He totaled 1,348 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns in 40 games at Northwestern.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
