Watch: Missouri HC rants about starting QB getting booed

Missouri scored the big early upset of the day on Saturday afternoon when they knocked off No. 15 ranked Kansas State on an incredible 61-yard walk off field goal

The game did not start with that sort of excitement for Missouri as starting quarterback Brady Cook heard some early boos from the home fans.

That did not sit well with head coach Eli Drinkwitz who went to bat for his quarterback after the game and channeled his inner Mike Gundy, telling fans they are free to boo him but get behind the player.

He did not stop there, and was again agitated when asked if he has ever seen Cook play this well.

"Yeah guys, in practice all the time. In practice. That’s why he’s the starting quarterback. Like why are we still asking questions to defend Brady Cook right now? The dude’s a good football player. He’s a really good football player. Quit asking me about it."

Cook ended up playing an outstanding game on Saturday, completing 23-of-35 passes for 356 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He did all of that while playing on an injured knee that was clearly limiting him at times.

Entering play on Saturday Cook had completed 33-of-40 passes for 376 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions over Missouri's first two wins. So it is not like he has played poorly, and when added to Saturday's performance his early season numbers are actually outstanding for a Tigers team that is now 3-0 and already has a huge won its resume for the season.
