Former Oklahoma State Cornerback Enters Transfer Portal After National Championship Loss
Sara Diggins/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK

A former Cowboy is on the move again after an unforgettable season.

After one season at Washington, Cornerback Jabbar Muhammad entered the transfer portal for the second year in a row. In 2023, the cornerback helped the Huskies to a 14-1 record and an appearance in the national championship game.

At Washington, Muhammad earned All-Pac-12 Second Team honors and made 46 tackles and three interceptions while playing in all 15 games. That included two tackles in the national title game against Michigan, and he defended one pass.

Despite his success with the Huskies, Muhammad has decided to move on. His decision comes after coach Kalen DeBoer was reportedly hired as Nick Saban’s successor at Alabama.

“I want to thank Coach DeBoer and the entire coaching staff for welcoming me in with open arms,” Muhammad posted on social media Friday. “This year was special and I created memories with my brothers that will last a lifetime. I wish Coach DeBoer nothing but the best as he takes the next step in his journey!”

While he broke out at Washington, the defensive back was a key part of success in Stillwater. Muhammad spent the first three seasons of his college career at Oklahoma State before transferring to Washington after the 2022 season.

With OSU, Muhammad played every game in the 12-2 campaign in 2021. He had his best performances in OSU’s final two games, starting with four tackles in the Big 12 Championship against Baylor.

In the Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame, Muhammad made his first career start and shined with a career-high eight tackles. He continued that success into his junior season when he tallied 48 tackles and his first career interception.

While his season at Washington did not end as he had hoped, the star cornerback will likely receive an abundance of interest in the transfer portal.
