Andrew Luck getting incredible honor from Stanford

Andrew Luck burst onto the football scene like a meteor. Those who weren't there may have a hard time understanding the hype around Luck, or how good he really was as a college athlete and NFL prospect.

There's a reason the Indianapolis Colts took Luck No. 1 overall in 2012, and there's a reason the Colts haven't been the same since he unexpectedly retired at just 29 years old.

He was a good quarterback. No, he was a great quarterback. Perhaps no fan base or organization knows that better than the Stanford Cardinal, where Luck was an absolute superstar.

Not surprisingly, he's going into Stanford's Hall of Fame.

Hailed as the prototype for the modern NFL quarterback at the time, Luck looked and played like he was made in a lab just for Stanford football. Checking in at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, Luck had the size and athleticism that made him impossible to take down in one shot, and he combined that with an absolute cannon for an arm and a Peyton Manning-like mind for the game.

In three seasons at Stanford, he threw for 9,430 yards and 82 touchdowns with 22 interceptions. He also rushed for 957 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Luck was a Heisman Trophy contender in 2010 and 2011, barely losing to Cam Newton and Robert Griffin III, respectively.

Luck led Stanford to a 31-7 record while he was quarterback. He's Stanford's leading touchdown thrower of all-time.
