After a lot of hype and anticipation, it's time to witness the debut of the 2024 Texas A&M Aggie football team, led by defensive guru Mike Elko

The Maroon & White Game presented by St. Joseph Health will take place on Saturday, April 20th, at 1 p.m. at Kyle Field. With all eyes on Elko in his inaugural season, entry is free for all fans.

After six seasons under Jimbo Fisher, the Aggies are embarking on a new chapter with former defensive coordinator Mike Elko following a 7-6 finish in 2023. Fisher's tenure ended with a 19-15 record in his final three seasons, culminating in a disappointing 5-7 finish despite securing the No. 1 recruiting class in FBS history under Elko's new regime.

The Maroon & White Game provides an opportunity to assess the Texas A&M quarterbacks, recently lauded by ESPN as the team's primary strength for the 2024 season. Jaylen Henderson, a junior recruit, is set to miss out as he recuperates from right shoulder surgery, incurred during the Texas Bowl's initial play.

Although Junior starter Conner Weigman has recovered from his season-ending foot injury sustained in Week 4, Marcel Reed, a true sophomore, is anticipated to lead the opposing side in Henderson's absence.

Weigman faces stiff competition once again, as both Jaylen Henderson and Marcel Reed made strong impressions with the first-team offense. Henderson, a sophomore transfer from Fresno State, led A&M to a 2-1 record in the regular season, throwing for 715 yards and six touchdowns against two interceptions.

Reed, part of the 2023 recruiting class, stepped in for Henderson during the Texas Bowl after Henderson injured his non-throwing arm on the opening drive. Reed showcased his talent by completing 20 of 33 pass attempts for 361 yards and also led the team in rushing with 29 yards, scoring a touchdown in the process.
