2024 NFL Draft Profile: Temple LB Jordan Magee

Perhaps a less discussed prospect than other linebackers in the 2024 NFL Draft class, but Temple's Jordan Magee should not be overlooked. 

Magee's notable ability could make him a bargain pick for some NFL team looking to shore up their linebacker group immediately. Magee has also proven himself to be effective in a variety of roles, one of the more overall athletic prospects from the American Athletic Conference.

Here's what else to know about the former Owl as he prepares for April's NFL Draft.

Measurements: Temple Listing - 6'3", 225 pounds, NFL Listing - 6'1", 228 pounds

Playing high school football in Dover, Delaware, Magee was a safety and quarterback at the prep level. He earned a two-star rating at that level from 247Sports. 

In his first three seasons with the Owls, Magee was a special teams contributor and an impact rotational player on defense. He became a consistent starter in his last two seasons (2022 and 2023). He was an All-AAC Honorable Mention in 2022 and a second-team All-AAC pick in 2023.

Over the course of his four seasons in Philadelphia, Magee totaled 235 tackles with 31 for a loss and eight sacks. He had over 80 tackles in each of the last two seasons. He also forced one fumble in each of the last two seasons.

The Strengths

Magee showed good reaction time throughout college and good sideline-to-sideline speed. Frankly, with how well he seemed to do on blitzes, Temple maybe could have utilized that ability in a larger capacity. 

He also fills gaps well and often finds himself in the right place to cut short pass plays and outside runs off at the source. He also showed an above average ability to shed blockers that made it to the next level on him, but did so through his exceptional footwork as opposed to brute strength.

A common criticism of Magee is his size. After measuring 6'1" at the combine, he is about three inches shorter than some of the linebacker prospects at the top of the list and 10-15 pounds lighter.
