The NFL's New Kickoff Rule is Dumb
Like that exciting play from Brad Smith and the Jets? Too bad, the NFL owners have decided to move the kickoff up five yards to the 35 yard line. So instead of seeing game changing moments on kickoffs, we will see touchbacks and quicker cuts to commercials. Well played, No Fun League. I understand that the NFL wants to make a show about caring about player safety, but why not just eliminate kickoffs altogether and just have teams start from the 20 yard line after a score instead of using this rule? The effect would be the same. Some NFL players such as Devin Hester and Josh Cribbs make their bones on special teams and this rule is threatening to make them irrelevant. Predictably, they aren't happy. "NFL rule changes are BS...U not making the game safer u messing a great sport, trynna to hide behind safety just to add 2 games...smh", Cribbs tweeted.
