The NFL was in federal court in Minnesota on Monday and requested that a judge throw out an antitrust suit brought by retired players. The reasoning by the NFL was the same that it is suing in the suit by current players led by Tom Brady (Tom Brady, et al. v National Football League, et al.). Namely, according to federal law, courts aren't allowed to intervene in labor disputes. The NFL will be back in court again tomorrow to argue about lifting the lockout.
